Eli sighed and stood up, pulling Catie to her feet along with him. He put his arms around her, holding her close. "I promise that you are taking advantage of nothing. I promise that someday I will find a way to prove that to you. For right now you are just going to have to trust me. You are just going to have to trust that I love you. You are going to have to trust that I would never do anything to hurt you, and that I'm well aware that taking what you're offering me and not giving the same thing in return will hurt you. Trust me, Catie."
Aww... he's such a sweetheart. Now the question is, can they really make this work, under the circumstances? Keep coming back to find out. And in the meantime, don't forget to check out all the other great writers over at www.wewriwa.com
And here's some mood music. This scene I actually had two songs on a loop for. So, here they are:
Thanks for stopping by. Tomorrow I'll post the character bio I was supposed to post this weekend, come back to check it out.
I enjoyed your 8. Eli sounds a lot more wordly-wise than Catie. He comes over very well in this piece.
ReplyDeleteSo nice that he returns her feelings. What kind of paranormal is it?
ReplyDeleteThat's sweet. I hope it will work out for them.
ReplyDeleteYou know, I delve into every book I read, just waiting for that magical moment when the hero finally breaks enough to say his equivalent of the words Eli just did. Well done.
ReplyDeleteNice snippet. I'm a sucker for love.
ReplyDeleteNow the question is...will she trust him?
He's pretty emphatic about it, which I love. Terrific snippet!
ReplyDeleteHe's made a convincing point. What say you Catie? Intriguing snippet.
ReplyDeleteAww. I like Eli's voice here--well done. I'll have to go back and read your other scenes to find out more.
ReplyDeleteI'm sure rooting for them! Love your musical selections as well. :-)
ReplyDeleteHmm, can she trust him? I feel like I want her to! :D Great 8!
ReplyDeleteOh, he sounds like a keeper! I love that you had mood music to set the scene:)
ReplyDeleteHe's very compelling here. Hope he convinces her! I'll be back to find out.

I really enjoyed this scene and I liked the repetitions in the dialogue ... the emphasis, the cadence. Nicely done. Really good 8.
